2023 Half Load Restrictions - TWPEC 

Please be advised that due to unseasonably mild conditions, and in conjunction with the Counties of Leeds and Grenville, the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal will begin Half Load Restrictions on Township roadways.

Half load restrictions in the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal are in effect as of February 26 – May 15, 2024, with road and weather conditions routinely reviewed to assess for the end date of weight restrictions.

The Counties of Leeds and Grenville and the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal will be limiting weight of materials to five tonnes per axle on roadways throughout the region. Signs are installed on all municipal roads where these weight restrictions apply.

Temporary restrictions on heavy weight vehicles help avoid damage to Township roads during the spring season. In early spring, frozen roads start to thaw, water soaks into the gravel, and the pavement temporarily loses the strength needed to support heavy-weight load vehicles. Measures are put in place to protect the investment taxpayers have made in our infrastructure and are important to the bottom line, as well as the effective use of tax dollars.  

Roadways exempt from Half Load Restrictions in the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal are:

• Giant Tiger Blvd
