Seasonal Campgrounds are now Closed

April 3, 2020

Closing Non-Essential Workplaces as of March 25th

As a temporary measure, the Ontario government is asking businesses to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by closing non-essential workplaces starting March 25, 2020. This decision was on the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and other public health experts.

Temporarily closing non-essential workplaces will help:

  • reduce exposure and stop the spread of COVID-19 from person-to-person
  • protect workers who maintain essential goods and services
  • minimize impacts to people’s livelihood and businesses’ bottom lines

What Does This Mean for Seasonal Campgrounds?

The non-essential business closure order (the “order”) under the EMCPA requires the closure of businesses unless they are specifically listed as “essential businesses”.

Seasonal campgrounds and recreational mobile home parks are not listed as essential businesses; as such, the order requires them to be closed.
