Canal Beautification Project

We are preparing for vegetation management work along the south canal embankment this summer as part of the Canal Beautification Project.

Work will include the removal of overgrown brush, vines, and select vegetation from the top of the embankment to the water’s edge. This work will help restore the canal corridor, improve access for future maintenance, and support long-term improvements to the area.

You can expect periodic noise in this area with the use of heavy equipment this summer while work is underway.

The first phase of the Canal Beautification Project is tentatively scheduled for mid- to late July, subject to weather and site conditions.

This phase will focus on removing brush, invasive vegetation and weedy trees along the canal embankment as the first step in a long-term beautification effort.

The initial work is expected to take approximately one week, although vegetation management along the canal is anticipated to be a multi-year project.
