New Community Safety Zone in Effect
A new Community Safety Zone has been established on Henderson Street and along a section of Bennett Street (County Road 44) between Sloan Street and Goodin Road near Centennial ’67 Public School. The designation was approved by both Township and County Council following a request from residents and a review of the area with school representatives and the OPP Community Safety Officer.
Community Safety Zones are created in areas where public safety is of special concern, such as near schools, parks, or hospitals. Within these zones, fines for traffic violations are doubled, helping encourage safer driving and increased awareness of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
The posted speed limit of 50 km/h remains in place, but drivers should be aware that the Community Safety Zone is in effect at all times.
Residents and visitors are reminded to slow down and stay alert when travelling through this area to help keep students, families, and neighbours safe.
