Township Road Work Planned for 2026 Construction Season
We’re sharing an early look at road work planned by the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal for the 2026 construction season. This page highlights projects led by the Township. Other road work in the area may be led by the Ministry of Transportation or neighbouring municipalities.
As details are confirmed, updates on timing, traffic impacts, and construction schedules will be available through the Municipal 511 map on our website. This is the best place to check for current information throughout the construction season.
Cardinal road resurfacing
Council has awarded the Cardinal Road Resurfacing Project to Blair Asphalt Products Ltd.
This project is funded through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), representing an investment of $275,000 in local infrastructure.
Streets included in this year’s resurfacing program:
- Dishaw Street (Perry Street to County Road 2)
- Meadowlands Drive (St. Lawrence Street to the cul de sac)
- Middle Street (John Street to Dundas Street)
- East Street (John Street to Dundas Street)
- Victoria Street (Dundas Street to Lambert Street)
These improvements will enhance road safety, extend pavement life, and provide a smoother ride for residents and visitors.
Project timing
Resurfacing is expected to begin the week of May 19 and be completed by May 22. You'll see updates on social media, with the most current information available on Municipal 511.
Pittston Road East resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation
We are partnering with the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG) on a road resurfacing project along Pittston Road East, from County Road 22 to the eastern township boundary.
This project is supported through:
- Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF): $152,628
- Canada Community Building Fund (CCBF): $245,790
In addition, the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville and SDG have awarded a contract to rehabilitate the bridge at the junction of Pittston Road East and Hainesville Road.
This work will require a full road closure. Traffic control measures will be in place, and detours may be required during the closure.
Project timing
Road resurfacing is planned to take place ahead of the bridge rehabilitation work, with completion anticipated by mid-June.
Advance work for the bridge will begin around June 1, with traffic maintained through temporary lane restrictions. Work on the bridge is expected to begin on June 15, at which point a full road closure will be required.
Additional notice will be provided on social media in advance of major impacts, with the most current updates available on Municipal 511.
