Proclamation: Rail Safety Week

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal has officially proclaimed September 15 to 21, 2025 as Rail Safety Week.

Each year, Rail Safety Week reminds us of the importance of staying safe near trains and railways. In Canada, 232 crossing and trespassing incidents were reported in 2022, resulting in 66 fatalities and 43 serious injuries that could have been prevented.

With support from CN and Operation Lifesaver, this week raises awareness about the dangers of trespassing on railway property and not obeying signs and signals at crossings. By staying alert, looking and listening, and following traffic laws, we can all help reduce tragic incidents and save lives.
