Registering Your Child for Kindergarten

December 22, 2025 (Brockville, ON) - Starting Kindergarten is a big and exciting step for families. A child’s school journey is filled with growth, curiosity, and new discoveries, and educators within the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) are there to support and help our youngest students thrive as they take these new steps.

Kindergarten registration in the UCDSB opens on January 5, 2026.

Choosing a school

Selecting the right school depends on your location and transportation needs. You can find out which school your child should attend using the school locator tool. This tool will show you what school your child should attend if they are eligible for transportation.  

Schools offer Kindergarten information sessions in January and February, and open houses during the spring. These events give parents/guardians the opportunity to learn about the school, the Kindergarten program, meet the teachers and even some classmates. When to register

Registration for the 2026-27 school year opens on January 5, 2026. While registration is ongoing throughout the year, registering your child for Kindergarten in January allows the school to plan ahead for your child’s arrival and gives you the opportunity to attend any transition events the school may have planned.

How to register

Visit the UCDSB website for registration information. All registrations are done online through our Parent/Guardian portal called My Family Room. If you need support in registering your child, contact the school that you will be registering at.

Child care options

Many UCDSB schools have third-party child care and before-and-after-school programs on site. See if your child’s school has before and after school care options.
