Revitalizing Access at the Spencerville Library

The Township has applied for Commonwell LEAF funding to renew the aging accessibility ramp at the Spencerville Branch of the Edwardsburgh Cardinal Public Library.
The ramp has served the community for many years, but it now needs upgrades to remain safe, functional, and welcoming for everyone. A renewed ramp will improve accessibility for residents of all ages, from seniors and parents with strollers to visitors using mobility aids, ensuring everyone can enter the library independently and with dignity.
Through the Commonwell LEAF program, community engagement plays a key role in the final funding decision. Residents are invited to share their stories, comments, or photos about what accessibility means to them and how the Spencerville Library contributes to community life.
Add your voice to our project before November 14.
Each comment or story submitted helps strengthen the Township’s application by showing how much this project matters to our residents.
Even if the Township’s LEAF application is not selected for funding, the accessibility ramp will still be renewed using Township funds to ensure that this essential upgrade moves ahead in 2026.
Mike Spencer, TWPEC Manager of Recreation and Facilities, noted that community feedback is a key part of the process: “The Spencerville Library is a cornerstone of our community. Every voice and story shared shows how much residents value inclusion and accessibility in our public spaces.”
Together, we can make a lasting difference, keeping our library safe, accessible, and open to all.
