Emergency Preparedness Week Proclamation

Are you ready?

This year, Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is May 1-7, 2022.

Township's Official Proclamation

Emergency Preparedness Week is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996. It is a collaborative event undertaken by provincial and territorial emergency management organizations supporting activities at the local level, in concert with Public Safety Canada and partners. The “Be Ready for Anything” theme is about individuals and families being prepared for emergencies before they happen.

EP Week encourages everyone to take three simple steps to become better prepared to face a range of emergencies:

Step 1Know the risks - Find out about the risks in your region and how to prepare for a variety of emergencies

Make a Plan

Step 2Make a plan - Making an emergency plan will help you and your family know what to do in the case of an emergency. Watch this 3-minute video for more information

Get an Emergency Kit

Step 3Get an emergency kit - For more information on building a family emergency kit, see this short video

Residents are encouraged to expand their emergency preparedness efforts and reach out to neighbours and friends who are vulnerable or need assistance such as seniors, pet owners, and people with disabilities and special needs.
