Waterfront Improvements

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal was featured on the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) website March 19, 2022 in acknowledgement of the Waterfront Revitalization Project completed at the end of 2021.

Investments from the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) helped the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal make much-needed improvements to its waterfront in 2021.

The Township created a Waterfront Improvement Subcommittee in 2020. The committee reviewed concept drawings and discussed design and implementation of various phases of waterfront improvements along the St. Lawrence River, in an area of the waterfront known locally as Richardson’s Point.

The CCBF helped fund upgrades to the large waterfront parking lot, where residents and tourists access boat docking areas and the various trails along the waterfront. The Township invested CCBF funding into removing the old asphalt, repaving and expanding the lot. The new lot can accommodate more vehicles, and vehicles towing larger boats.

This portion of the project complimented other phases of the project, which included updating the existing walking trail, planting new trees and shrubs, and adding bench seating for visitors.
