Well Water

If you own a private well in the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal, you'll want to test your water quality regularly to ensure the water is safe for drinking.

Pick up a water sample kit

You can pick up a free water sample kit from the Township Office

Drop off your water sample for testing

Once you've collected the well water sample, you can drop it off at the Township Office. We accept samples at the following times:

  • Tuesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

How to take a water sample

Please follow the instructions provided with the water sample kit. Samples are only viable for 48 hours after collection. Don't collect your sample water before Tuesday morning if you are using the drop off site at the Municipal Office. Learn more about the free well water sampling program and other drop off locations through the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

A study conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks, identifies the area north of the South Nation River (Spencerville) as being highly vulnerable to surface contamination and reminds residents of the importance of regular well water testing.
