Significant Weather and Service Disruptions

Municipal service disruptions related to severe weather, including declared Significant Weather Events, will be shared on this page as information becomes available.

Service updates

Updates related to weather-related service disruptions, such as road maintenance, waste collection, or facility closures, will be posted here when impacts are identified.

Garbage collection

January 15, 8:00 a.m. Garbage collection is continuing today but may be slower than usual due to weather conditions. Please place garbage and recycling slightly back from the road edge to reduce the chance of being covered by snow during plowing.

Snowplowing update

January 15, 4:00 p.m. Snowplowing operations will be wrapping up within the next hour as crews take a well-deserved rest. Crews will be back out around 4:00 a.m. to continue operations ahead of the morning commute.

What a Significant Weather Event means

During a Significant Weather Event, road and sidewalk maintenance timelines may be extended as conditions may be hazardous and/or change quickly. Public Works staff will continue to monitor conditions and respond as safely as possible.

Not all winter storms require a Significant Weather Event declaration. Service disruptions may still occur during severe weather and will be communicated as they are confirmed.
