Fire Risk Update – Level 3 (High)
Fire Risk Level 3 – High Risk: Campfires are allowed only with a valid, activated burn permit and must follow all permit conditions. Campfires can be no larger than 0.6 m (2 ft) and must be contained within a non-combustible ring at least 15 cm (6 in) high, kept 6 m (20 ft) away from buildings, fences, wooded areas, property lines, or hydro/telephone lines. Only seasoned firewood may be used, and fires must be fully extinguished with water before leaving. Burn barrels, brush piles, agricultural fires, yard waste, and fireworks are not permitted. The fire department continues to monitor conditions. Check for updates at ec.burnpermits.com.

Edwardsburgh Cardinal is under Fire Risk Level 3, which permits campfires, in time for the long weekend. South Nation Conservation has also raised its Low Water Advisory to Level 3, urging residents to reduce non-essential water use.

The Spencerville Branch of the Edwardsbrugh Cardinal Public Library was full of excitement today as Fire Chief Brian read No Dragons for Tea and shared fire safety tips with kids.
Although the region received some rainfall recently, it was not enough to reduce the risk of fire or improve water supply conditions. The total burn ban and Level 2 Low Water Advisory remain in effect for Edwardsburgh Cardinal and surrounding areas.
The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal offers a variety of free and paid skating times throughout the fall and winter season.
