Financial Statements

All campaign financial statements are due no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023.

Candidates who filed a Notice of Extension of Campaign Period (Form 6) are required to submit a supplementary financial statement reflecting their total campaign no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Grace Period

Candidates who have not filed their financial statements by the applicable deadline may file their statement within 30 days of this date if they pay the Township a $500 late filing fee by 2:00 p.m. on  May 1, 2023 (initial statement) or Monday, October 30, 2023 (supplementary statement).

Candidate who fail to file a statement by the end of the applicable 30-day grace period and who have no applied to the Superior Court of Justice for an extension prior to the deadline are subject to the penalties outlined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, as amended.

Compliance Reporting

All 2022 Municipal Election candidates have submitted their Form 4 financial statements before the deadline. The Clerk hereby confirms that based on the information provided within the candidates submitted financial statements, in accordance with Section 88.23 and 88.25, that the candidates were within their allowed limits.

2022 Municipal Elections

The 2022 Municipal Election will determine who will serve as the five (5) Council members for the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal. Council is comprised of a Mayor, Deputy Mayor and three (3) Councillors, each of which represent a ward. 

Municipal Councils serve a 4-year term as per the Municipal Elections Act. The current term of Council is from December 1, 2018 to November 14, 2022, with the next election scheduled to take place on October 24, 2022. 

Decisions made by Council have a direct impact on the residents of Edwardsburgh Cardinal. Council oversees the Township's operations and services to ensure tax dollars are spent effectively and efficiently. Their main role is to lead the Township into the future through strategic planning and development.

Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal that during the period commencing on May 2, 2022 and completed on Nomination Day, August 19, 2022, the following persons filed all necessary papers, declarations and fees and as Clerk, I, Rebecca Williams, am satisfied that such persons are qualified and that their Nominations satisfy the requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. I have, therefore, certified such candidates for the office, which follows their respective name:

Accessibility

The Municipal Election Accessibility Plan address specific accessibility requirements in relation to the 2022 Municipal Election in the Township. The Township has made great efforts in promoting a barrier free community. This planning document was developed in advance of the election in order to identify measures to be taken and reported to Council following the election.

Section 12.1(3) of the Municipal Elections Act requires that the Clerk shall prepare a Post Municipal Election Accessibility Report about the identification, removal and prevention of barriers that affect electors and candidates with disabilities and shall make that report available to the public.  In addition to the requirement, included within the report are the statistics and an overall impression of the 2022 Municipal Election.
