The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal is subject to the Ontario Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and other privacy legislation.

The Township takes every precaution to protect your personal information on the internet. Senders of messages should be aware that personal and other information contained in electronic correspondence (or printed versions) which are directed to the Township are subject to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and may be deemed releasable under this legislation, and that the anonymity or confidentiality of the sender and any information contained with the correspondence cannot be guaranteed.

The Government of Ontario maintains the e-Laws website, which provides access to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other legislation.

 Use of collected information

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal does not collect information for commercial or marketing purposes, nor does it sell, exchange, or otherwise distribute the information collected through this website for commercial or marketing purposes. The Township collects and uses only the information needed for the purpose  which the collection is required.

  • To identify you if you have a question or concern
  • To advise you about changes to our services or service interruptions

The Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal attempts to keep the information on this website current, accurate and complete but reliance upon any materials on this site shall be at your sole discretion. All such information should be verified independently before being used or relied on. Social media disclaimer

Generally, comments and messages posted to the Township’s official social media and websites are considered transitory records and will not be kept as a permanent record by the Township. In the event that comments and messages are transferred for use on other websites or communication media, users acknowledge and consent by their use of the Township’s social networking sites that their comments or messages may become part of the public record and used in official Township documentation and business. It is the discretion of the Township which, if any, comments or messages will be archived or used.

The Township reserves the right to edit and/or modify comments and  posts that contain content threats, off topic remarks and comments, violations against Human Rights, discriminatory language, expletive language, campaigning, partisan messaging or other material deemed inappropriate in nature.

It is not the intent of the Township to collect any personal information when users participate on its social media websites other than what is volunteered to the Township. Information, comments and messages collected for the public record using social media will be treated like any other  form of communication received  by the Township.

The Township may monitor the website content and will make reasonable efforts to ensure that content it posts is accurate at the time of its posting. However, it is the nature of social media and websites communications that accuracy and timeliness are not guaranteed and may not be 100% reliable, therefore,  users acknowledge that the Township makes no such guarantees. The Township is not responsible for the authenticity or suitability of content posted to its website or social media networking sites by others. Posted comments and images do not necessarily represent the view of the Township.

The Township cannot and does not guarantee your privacy on third party sites. The Township will not be responsible for any losses or damages any user may suffer as a result of using third party sites; as the users participate at their own risk, for their own benefit and by doing so accept that they do not have a right of action against the Township related to such uses.
